How to Use the Location Map
Overview
The Location Map feature allows you to view and manage asset locations using geographic coordinates. This is useful for organizing assets based on where they were captured or where they are relevant. The map view can be used to visually explore assets by location directly from the Library.
About the Location Map Feature
- Location Map is available as a component in Asset Details and must be enabled in the asset's profile.
- If available, GPS coordinates are automatically extracted from the file’s EXIF metadata during upload.
- If GPS data is missing, users can manually set a location from within the asset details after upload.
- To display location data in the Map View of the Library, the asset must belong to a profile where the Location Map component is enabled.
View Assets on a Map
- Navigate to the Library (or search results or metadata view).
- Switch the view mode to Map View.
- Assets with GPS data will appear as pins on the map according to their assigned location.
Manually Set or Update an Asset's Location
- Open the asset in Asset Details.
- Scroll to the Location Map component.
- Click to set the location on the map.
- Save your changes.
Reprocessing and GPS Data
- GPS data is always extracted during upload if present in the file.
- If GPS data was missed or the Location Map wasn’t enabled during upload, you can trigger Reprocessing to extract coordinates again.
- Reprocessing can be done from the asset actions menu or via the Processing Report in admin settings.
