How to Convert an Asset

The asset conversion feature allows you to generate alternative versions of a file using predefined conversion profiles. This is useful when you need assets in different sizes, formats, or resolutions for sharing, publishing, or compatibility with other applications. Conversion does not change the original file; it creates a temporary version for download.

Before You Start

You must have conversion permissions to use this feature and see available conversion options.
Conversion profiles must be configured by an administrator or user with conversion profile permissions before they appear as options for users.
Converted files are generated on-demand and downloaded directly-they are only saved temporarily in the system.

Option 1: Convert from Asset Details

Open the asset in Asset Details.
Scroll to the Conversion component.
Review the list of available conversion profiles.
Click the download icon next to your preferred conversion option.
The converted file will be generated and made available to download to your device.

Option 2: Convert from Preview Download Menu

Open the asset preview.
Click the Download menu.
Select a conversion profile from the available options.
The converted file will be generated and downloaded to your device.

About Conversion Profiles

Conversion profiles define what formats, sizes, and file types are available for conversion. Each profile includes a name, description, output format, and technical specifications like dimensions or quality settings.

Administrators and users with conversion profile management permissions can create and configure profiles in Admin Settings >Assets Settings >Conversion Profiles tab. To create a new profile, click [+ New] and configure the name, description, visibility, file type, and output format.

If you need a conversion option that isn't currently available, contact your administrator to request a new conversion profile.
