Customize a Folder
Overview
Customizing a folder allows you to tailor how it appears and behaves in the Library. You can hide its contents, apply a visual thumbnail, and control how folders and assets are ordered. These settings help improve organization and user experience.
Before You Start
- You must have permission to customize folders.
- The “Customize” option is available in the folder actions menu (top right-hand side) for users with the appropriate permissions.
Customization Options
- Hide Assets in Folder: Hides all assets in the current folder and its subfolders from view in the current folder.
- Hide Subassets in Folder: Only hides assets located in the subfolders (not the current folder). If Hide Assets in Folder is already enabled, this setting is not needed.
- Use Folder Image: Allows setting a custom thumbnail for the folder. You can also define the image size (small, medium, large) to enhance visibility.
- Order of Folders: Choose between custom order or alphabetical order by name.
- Asset Order: Define the sorting method for assets in the folder:
- Last Modified
- Created Date
- Asset Type
- Asset Name
Sort direction can be set to ascending or descending.
Steps to Customize a Folder
- Navigate to the folder you want to customize.
- Open the folder actions menu and click “Customize”.
- Enable or disable Hide Assets in Folder or Hide Subassets in Folder as needed.
- To use a custom image:
- Toggle Use Folder Image on.
- Upload an image to represent the folder.
- Select the desired image size.
- Set folder and asset order preferences.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Tips
- If Hide Assets in Folder is enabled, it hides both the assets in the current folder and those in subfolders — no need to use Hide Subassets in that case.
- Be cautious when hiding folder content. If an asset was uploaded before the setting was enabled, it may become harder to locate through normal navigation.
- Use folder images for visual cues in large or shared libraries to improve navigation.
