How to Upload Assets
Overview
This guide explains how to upload assets into the platform. Assets are the core files stored in your Library and can be uploaded individually or in batches. Uploads can be done via drag-and-drop or using dedicated upload buttons for assets and folders. Upload permissions and behavior may vary depending on your role and configuration.
Before You Start
- You must have upload permissions based on your user group and assigned permission sets.
- Only individual assets (not folders) can be uploaded using drag-and-drop.
- There are two upload buttons: one for assets and one for folders.
- All uploads go through a metadata registration step before finalization.
Ways to Upload
- Drag and Drop: Drag individual assets into any part of the platform interface. If done inside a folder, that folder will be preselected as the destination. You can always change the destination during the upload process.
- Upload Buttons:
- Upload Assets: Use this to select and upload one or more files from your computer.
- Upload Folder: Use this to upload entire folders from your file system. The platform recreates the folder structure and includes all contained assets.
- Upload Subassets: To upload subassets (related or supporting files), navigate to the asset details view of the main asset. Use the Upload button available there to attach one or more subassets. These subassets are linked to the parent asset and typically inherit visibility and metadata behavior. Note: Subasset visibility and access are controlled by the asset's Profile configuration—if the subasset component is not enabled in the profile, users may not see or access the subasset area.
Steps to Upload Assets
- Go to the area of the platform where you want to initiate the upload.
- Click either the Upload Assets or Upload Folder button, or drag and drop assets into the interface.
- Select the files or folder to upload from your computer.
- Choose or confirm the destination folder during metadata registration (preselected if already inside a folder).
- Complete any required metadata fields (defined by configuration and profiles).
- Click Confirm to upload.
Tips
- Folder uploads recreate folder hierarchy and apply permissions based on the destination node and your permission set.
- Assets uploaded via drag-and-drop can be redirected to a different folder during registration.
- Subassets are useful for linking secondary files to a main asset—such as project files, source files, or alternate formats.
- Metadata can always be edited after upload if changes are needed.
