About the Asset View

The Asset View is the main workspace for browsing, sorting, and managing digital assets in the Library. It displays assets in your selected folder, search results, or filtered view. The Asset View is sometimes referred to as the Workspace View.

Quick Summary

The Asset View displays assets in three formats: Grid, List, or Map. Use the controls at the top to sort assets, change sort direction, and switch between view types.

View Types

Switch between view types using the View control at the top of the Asset View.

Grid View

Displays assets as thumbnail cards in a grid layout. Grid View is ideal for visual browsing, especially for images and videos.

An asset whose preview is still being generated shows a Preview is being processed message on its card. This message remains visible at every thumbnail size, so you can tell a preview is on its way rather than missing.

List View

Displays assets in rows with detailed information in columns. List View is ideal for reviewing metadata and managing large numbers of assets.

Map View

Displays assets on a geographic map based on their location metadata (geo tags). Map View is useful for assets with GPS data, such as photographs taken with location-enabled devices.

Assets without location metadata will not appear in Map View. See How to Use the Location Map for more information.

Selecting Assets

As well as selecting assets one at a time with their checkboxes, in Grid View you can drag a selection box across the assets you want – click an empty area and drag to enclose them. This is the quickest way to select a run of adjacent assets before a bulk action such as move, download, or edit.

Bulk actions are available wherever assets are selected, including the Home screen.

Opening an Asset's Folder

When you open an asset from outside the Library – for example from the Home screen or the Processing report – its folder path is shown in the details panel. Clicking the path takes you to that folder in the Library, so you can jump from an asset straight to where it lives.

Moving Assets

After you move assets to another folder, you stay where you are rather than being taken to the destination folder. This keeps you in place so you can carry on working with the current view.

Sorting Assets

Use the Sort By dropdown at the top of the Asset View to change how assets are ordered.
