How to Set Up Type Thumbnails
Some files have no preview of their own, such as archives, spreadsheets, audio files and fonts. These show a file type icon instead. You can replace that built-in icon with your own image, for example one in your brand colours.
Steps to Add a Type Thumbnail
- Go to App Setup > Asset Settings and choose Type thumbnails in the Tab dropdown.
- Click Add thumbnail.
- Click Choose image and select the image to use.
- Set the Background colour shown behind the image.
- Optionally, give it a Name for your own reference.
- In File extensions, enter the extensions it should stand for, separated by commas, for example zip, rar, 7z.
- Click Save.
Checking How It Looks
Type an extension in the Extension box at the top of the tab. The preview shows the thumbnail in a List row, a Small grid and a Large grid, as users will see it.
Editing or Removing a Type Thumbnail
- To change it, click Edit on its card, make your changes and click Save.
- To remove it, click the bin icon on its card. Files of that type go back to the built-in icon.
Tips
- Changes apply straight away, including to files that are already in the library.
- Files that already have a preview, like images, videos and most PDFs, keep their own thumbnail.
- Files of a type you haven't added keep the built-in icon.
