How to Move or Edit a Folder

This guide shows you how to rename a folder and move it to a different location in the Library. Editing folders is useful for keeping your asset structure organized and aligned with your team's needs.

Before You Start

  • You must have the required permissions to edit or move folders.
  • Moving folders may affect access based on the destination folder's permissions.
  • Only one folder can be moved at a time. If it contains subfolders, the entire structure will be moved with it.

Where to Find the Edit Action

  • In the Library root (first node), click the three-dot menu (⋯) to access folder actions like Edit Folder, Upload Image, and Delete Folder.
  • When inside a folder, use the Folder Actions button in the top right to find the Edit Folder option.

Steps to Edit a Folder

  1. Navigate to the folder you want to edit.
  2. Open the folder actions menu using either the three-dot menu or the folder actions button.
  3. Select Edit Folder.
  4. To rename, enter a new name in the provided field.
  5. To move the folder, select a different parent node from the folder tree.
  6. Click Save to apply your changes.

Tips

  • Moving a folder to a new parent may impact who can view or access it, depending on the permissions of the destination folder.
  • Use clear and consistent naming conventions to help users understand folder contents at a glance.
