How to Delete a Folder
This guide explains how to delete a folder from the Library. Deleting folders helps keep your structure clean and relevant by removing folders that are no longer needed.
Before You Start
- You must have permission to delete folders in the current location.
- Folders can be deleted even if they contain assets or subfolders.
- Important: Deleting a folder that contains content also deletes its subfolders and the assets in it. An asset that is also in another folder is only removed from the deleted folder and stays in its other folders. See How to Add Assets to More Folders.
- Deleting a smart folder also deletes the folders nested inside it. The assets the smart folder shows are not affected, because they are stored in other folders.
Where to Find the Delete Option
- In the Library root (first node), click the three-dot menu (⋯) to access Delete Folder.
- When inside a folder, click the Folder Actions button in the top right and select Delete Folder.
Steps to Delete a Folder
- Navigate to the folder you want to delete.
- Open the folder actions menu using either the three-dot menu or the folder actions button.
- Select Delete Folder.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted. If the folder contains content, you'll be informed that all subfolders and assets will also be deleted.
Tips
- Deleted content can be recovered within 90 days due to platform data retention policies.
- Communicate with your team before deleting shared folders to avoid removing valuable content unintentionally.
