How to Move an Asset
This guide explains how to move one or more assets between folders within the platform. Moving an asset changes its location and can affect its visibility based on folder permissions.
Before You Start
- You must have permission to move assets and access to both the current and target folders.
- An asset can be in more than one folder. Moving it takes it out of one folder and puts it in another. To keep it where it is and also show it in another folder, use Add to folder instead.
Ways to Move an Asset
- From Asset Actions (⋯): In folders, metadata views, or search results, click the three-dot menu and select Move to folder.
- From Asset Details: Open the asset, open the actions menu next to Download and select Move Asset.
- Bulk Move: Select several assets with the checkboxes. In the batch action menu at the bottom, click ⋯ and choose Move.
Steps to Move an Asset
- Locate the asset(s) you want to move.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯), open the asset details, or use the checkboxes to select multiple items.
- Select Move to folder (or Move Asset in Asset Details, or Move for several assets).
- Choose the folder in Destination Folder.
- Click Move.
Moving an Asset That Is in Several Folders
If the asset is in more than one folder, the Move form asks you to choose which folder to move it from and which folder to move it to. The asset stays in its other folders.
Tips
- Moving assets affects who can see or interact with them, depending on the access settings of the destination folder.
- Use bulk move for organising multiple assets efficiently.
- If you're unsure about destination folder access, verify permissions before moving.
